Okay, this is a useless and obnoxious MOD, but I think about these things when I can't sleep at night...
Ever notice the annoying music everone adds to their MySpace page? Well, here you go! This little gem adds a new Admin option under Member Features to enable a “Song” field on the forum profiles. Members can then add a song to their profile, without any tags or code. They just enter the URL of an online music file and it will be automatically embedded into their profile. Their song will play whenever their profile is opened. Comes complete with a mini console to control the music.
Isn't that special??
Download Attachment: Profile_Song_MOD.zip
I hope my instructions are clear enough. This my first original MOD.

I like this MOD because it seems that I can record a personal greeting/song and play it as an intro in my profile.
I write music and lyrics, so I'm looking forward to using this MOD some day to introduce folks to my style playing or even my current releases (when I get around to recording).
Thanks again! I think it will add a nice touch for what I am intending.

However, as a thought, since some folks might dislike the intrusion ... perhaps you can add an icon with a speaker or a musical symbol incorporated into the for those who have a sound file in their profile to help notify a profile visitor that there is music or sound that will play when the profile is opened.

I wasn't trying to be rude, but as it was already pointed out this feature is one of the biggest things I hate about web sites like MySpace. Highly consider giving your members the ability to disable this feature.< |

Or just set it to not auto-play. Its not so much sound on websites that I mind, its the automatic playing of sounds - wanted or otherwise - that I mind.< |

I think you guys both have offered very valid suggestions. I like them both! Auto-anything, if it resembles a pop-up or unrequested application is suspect for fraud of many sorts since these approaches have been abused too often especially in light of either unwanted advertising or adverse programming.
Very good points.

The autoplay thing is easy, and recommended. Just add the part in green to the MOD on pop_profile.asp as follows:
<embed src="<% Response.Write "" & strMySong & "" %>" AUTOSTART="false" width="300" height="25">
The profile icon suggestion is a good idea, but would take more work, particularly since I use the SHN v9 moded forum. But I might try it if I get bored.
But yes, I recognize that this MOD isn't everyone's cup of tea. I certainly hate unexpected sound files myself. I just offer it as a choice.
