For those of you not aware, the IE7 RC1 was released a couple of weeks ago, you can download it from here<

I installed it last week and have since un-installed it. I've had beta 2 installed for a while and used it from time to time but it just annoys the hell out of me.

1. Why move the refresh & home buttons from the left to the right ?
2. Why don't new tabs open up with your home page (instead of about_blank) like they do in Firefox ?
3. Opening a new tab is slow compared to Firefox.

2. is a setting in the options, you can tell it what to open too, or at least you could when I had it installed, plus my firefox allways opens as a blank window not my home page

anyway, its kind of mute since I can'tget it to install at all, am very annoyed, I actually like IE7 especially being able to open 4 home pages at once on start up<

Hmm...I installed it without a problem and I like it.

I didn't have the beta uninstalled first, so perhaps that's why it worked out OK. It just uninstalled the beta and installed itself. Took two reboots (one after the beta uninstall and one when done) but it went smoothly for me.<

Is this way slow, or is it just my computer... Anyway, still lags a bit behind Maxthon :).<

Question then, since Maxthon seems to just wrap itself around the IE rendering engine, will Maxthon use IE7 when you upgrade?

Also, I was wondering about the IETab plug-in for FF... will that open up an IE7 tab once you upgrade?

Just some random thoughts while I work on the second cup of coffee. <

I think Maxthon uses the installed IE engine, so it should be using IE7 now.<

As far as I know, IETab embeds IE in a FF tab so it should be using whichever version of IE you have installed. Might be able to find more information here.

I was thinking it might too (on both counts), but since I didn't see anything definitive on either site I was just wondering if anybody knew for certain. Then again either group might not publish anything until IE7 actually ships (so to speak).<

I don't really know, but my experience with previous betas of IE 7 makes me think so. Maxthon seemed to "inherit" certain problems of the installed beta version, and curiously enough, some Maxthon settings seemed to be used by IE, as well. Of course, this could all be my eyes and mind failing miserably again and misleading me to think this actually happens .<

Well, stranger things have happened. If I get a chance this weekend I'll fire up a copy of IE7 on a computer I was getting ready to re-image anyway and see how IETab fares.<
