I saw your register. I'm sorry I wasn't clear. Yes all that is working properly. I ment that if I as admin/moderator upload a private avatar and then assign it to a user they can not see it to use unless I place it in the general avatar folder. BUT then everyone can see it to use it. You see we have some technology challenged members. So they would sent the picture to me, I would resize it, upload it and assign it to them. Then all they had to do was choose it. Do you follow me?< |

Ah, found the solution!
Upload the avatar that person wants anywhere in your forum or offsite if needed. Then give him/her the link. That way, the user can just enter the URL into the box and link it that way.< |

This all gets back to the fact that when the admin goes to edit a member's avatar, it changes the *admin's* avatar instead. Definitely not the way things are supposed to work. < |

Yes, I just tried it and it changed my avatar, not the user's.
As I recall, you added the 'reset avatar' button because you couldn't get this to work right. At least that allowed me to stop the errors when a user deleted his avatar.
But I guess I may be useless for testing this anymore, since I may still have some of the old code hanging around. < |

TonyB7,
It works on my forum, and the two other test forums I use. Are you positive you got all the fixes/updates/changes?
Maybe I'm not understanding your question though because you contradicted yourself.

You say it doesn't work.
quote:
At least that allowed me to stop the errors when a user deleted his avatar.
But it fixed your problem.
The reset button was designed to wipe the users avatar. When an admin edits another users profile, a checkbox appears that says Reset Avatar. Once checked and submitted, that users avatar is set back to nothing. None of my forums have the problem you describe.
If that isn't what your talking about, then please explain cause then I'm lost.< |

Uploaded every needed file, updated the database, then edited the files. But when I, while logged in, try to change an avatar, it's get stuck on the frmAvatarMain.asp
The error which was given to me:
Error Type:
Sun ONE ASP VBScript compilation (0x800A03F2)
Expected identifier
incAvatarData.asp, line 35, column 9
Browser Type:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; InfoPath.1)
Page:
GET /forum/frmAvatarMain.asp
Time:

Does anyone have a test server that runs off of SUN's ASP Engine so I can test and edit the addon accordingly?
Berrie,
Think you can email me a FTP account so I play around with the code. There are differences in the engine, I posted some once so I'm going to need to dig up that email to find out what I need to change.< |

Thanks alot for your help.
I was able to fix the code in the areas that needed it and now the mod works on your forum, Enjoy!
Notes: (1)Private and Public Subs do not apply unless in a Class. (2)All Select Case Statements need parameters wrapped in paranthesis (3)Accidently called one function a private function (4)Database table names need to be consistent with the case whether it is lower or upper. All calls within the code need to be the same. Snitz's standard seems to be Upper Case. (5)Files names are case sensitive. (6)Sun's engine reports problems several lines off, bleh but won't stop me!
Like I said Thanks Berrie for giving me the chance to work with Sun's Engine, good chance I won't hit those errors again.
Let me know if you need anything else. < |
