Many of my users post links to streetfire.net like this one: http://videos.streetfire.net/hottestvideos/1/7253AC11-3EA9-4050-90F0-CA9266465B57.htm
Is it possible to include even this one in the mod? =)
These are also common:
http://www.killsometime.com/
http://www.putfile.com/
amongst others
Should I continue? =)

It depends on what the code they supply looks like. YouTube was easy to do because of the format of the permalink. I'm still trying to get Google Video to work properly in a post and on vid.asp. I haven't had a chance to look at real player yet.<

StreetFire Is simple. Take everything after the last slash, minus the .htm and append to: http://videos.streetfire.net/iPlayer.aspx?fileid= It's just a flash file.<

This is exactly what I needed for my Homegrown Music Forum! This was prolly the easiest mod I've ever installed! Worked perfectly the moment I installed it! THANKS, MarcelG!

Android, I hope you don't mind me posting a few tests...

a large wmv gets resized as we would expect:
http://www.thezonez.us/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=138,
and a small avi posted with wmv tags:
http://www.thezonez.us/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=139
is stretched to fill the window.

QT presents problems - a small video is surrounded by white space:
http://www.thezonez.us/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=137
(that's odd - today the background is black and matches the black forum background)
a large widescreen clip has it's edges chopped off:
http://www.thezonez.us/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=135
An even larger movie apeears to be centred with stuff missing around the edges and plays jumpily:
http://www.thezonez.us/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=141

I thought the windows were meant to resize?

Looking good though.

I'd really like to be able to see widescreen movies, like the one above, fully supported.

So, what exactly are the security risks involved with all this?

scource files for the QTs were:
http://qraft.net/fun/misc_videos/Foggy%20Start.mov
http://66.135.38.113:8080/WastedBrains/JSP/videos/media/genekellypops512k.mov

Karel, QT's aren't resized. It hasn't got a good scaling function available, that's the problem.<

Ah!

IE plays smoothly but gives a white backgound if the video is smaller than the window.
Firefox gives a black background, but plays all the QT clips jerkiliy.

Good morning Marcel.

Isn't it possible to make the forum window resize?<

1 - is it possible for the user to set their own poster frame, rather than the 'click to play' that currently appears?

2 - The black background in IE - is that a default of this mod? Or the default backgound of that particular forum?

3 - Would it be possible for the user to set the window size (with the mod automatically adding 10 pixels
to the height for the player controls)? Something perhaps in the form
{size}x,y{/size}{qt}http://www.site/movies.mov{/qt} ? Which would play in a window x pixels wide, and y+10 pixels high.

Karel, to answer your questions ;
1 - Yes, it'll definitely be possible, but the current mod doesn't provide that. I don't have a clue on how to do that, but I'm sure a guru will be able to pull that off.
2 - That's IE/FF specific. They both handle the objects in a slightly different way (also depending on the version of Quiktime/Windows Media Player installed)
3 - Yes, see the answer for question 1. However, most likely the format would be '[qt]x:y:posterimage:url[/qt] I've used that format for the admin-only tags for the videos. (see my inc_func_common.asp for more details)<

Many thanks for the reply.

I'm in the position now of waiting to see if someone else will manage to implement what I want and
then using a hosting service like forumco, or if not of learning how to code snitz myself...

Been a while since I did any real coding. Would offer more control of course. How difficult is Snitz?

What do you mean by 'inc_func_common.asp'?

Cheers.<

Karel,

Flash, YouTube, Google Video and Windows Media Audio & Video should be working on your forum. I'm not using vid.asp at the moment. There's a small problem with QuickTime which I'm trying to fix.<
