I will create one with it on the left.

Go for it afterwards. Your CSS style may not fit other so I kept it like other tables, colors and fonts like the rest of the forum.

i was thinking about the wording, though. i think "private avatar" sounds like referring to private messages or something. i think a more appropriate monicker would be "personal avatar," (or like vBulletin "custom avatar") and as a counter-point, "public avatar" for those uploaded to a general category?

Great suggestion, I'll make the changes.<

Keep the suggestions coming. I am putting a deadline for Friday Night. Anything suggested afterwards, unless crucial, will be on hold until the last version.

Please remember this Mod is still Beta and shouldn't be considered for main forums. Bugs are likely to exist and are in the developement phase. As with most version with major improvements it is recommended to always nab the lastest version.<

Zuel,

You'll notice that on pop_profile, mode=Edit will display the login form, once you submit, it goes to mode=goEdit, which checks the submitted username and password in the database (and also loads all the user's info so that it can be put in the edit fields). If there are no relevant records returned, you get the Invalid UserName or Password error. You can't go to mode=goEdit directly, because Request.Form("Name") and Request.Form("Password") would return as blank, so there will be no records returned.

There doesn't seem to be a session variable or cookie involved.<

I had exams on Monday and Tuesday and wasn't able to complete alot but I did get the following done:

http://www.twistingshadows.com/dev/avatars.asp?method=Main

Added the dynamic category layout on the accepted design.
Removed all the other interfaces that didn't belong.
Was about it.

Left to do:
Give "Enter Avatar URL" a function. - Done
Add to profile.
Update Readme.
Clean code.

I do not like the colors however. The link color on top of the background doesn't look all to go to me. I must have messed up somewhere with the colors.<

I created a test forum. Check it out. It looks a bit disorganized but I have those examples up so you can see them. This is a test forum, you may not upload.

From a few posts above.

Private avatars is the same thing as uploading. Except they get put into the private folder. Only admins and mods can see the link to view and moderate private avatars.

Uploading is disabled on my dev folders.<

Not much longer, possible Friday. I'll clean the code later since it works. With all the additions my subroutines have gotten extremely long and now are used incorrectly. After I get some free time I'll let my co workers take a spin through it and help me clean it up.

Alright I added it to the profile. Just left the avatar, changed the heading and added a link under the picture.

http://www.twistingshadows.com/userimages/profilepreview.jpg

Added a few lines of code so members who are not logged in cannot view the avatars page since it is a profile option.

Few problems though:

[1] Users who are not logged in can click the profile option on top. Once they log in they are not actually logged into the forum just the profile. Now if they attempt to change their avatar then it errors out. Errors out meaning "There was a problem<br>You must be logged in to view this page."

[2] When users are filling out their profile they might mistake the "Click here to change your avatar" might save their current avatar that they wrote. However if you navigate back from the avatars page without making a selection it still keeps the items in cache.

Haven't been able carry over the "Has logged in" profile session to the avatar page. As long as they are logged in they have access to the avatars page, which is fine to me.<

this sounds more like a problem with the snitz code than yours - i personally didn't even know you could do this. pretty stupid if you ask me... if you're not logged in, and click on "profile" it should take you to the main login page, not a pseudo-login...

i think the error will solve the problem itself, however. (at least until someone realizes it's stupid to be able to access your profile without logging in...)

i think that's fine. the link residing on the profile page makes it the portal to the page. it doesn't have to use the same profile login session or whatever.<

Basically if a user clicks on "Change your avatar" they get thrown into a new page. If they don't submit their current information before going to the new page then their information is lost.

Having everything else done I'll go ahead and complete the readme file and push this out.

To be completed:

Sorry for the delay. I went out of state for a week to spend time with the family. Didn't know I was going since the heater died the day before. Was afraid of pipes bursting so I didn't plan to go. Got it fixed the day of then left.

After I fix a problem I'll post it. ( I will!)<
