You don't have any rights to know anything, and we don't have to inform people if we don't want to, to be honest as "community" members it should be your duty to give something back, and since I fund the hosting of this community out of my own pocket, because the "community" can't even be arsed to donate enough money to even cover it's hosting costs, I think I have far more rights to do what I want than you have to demand satisfaction.< |

Laser, I'm curious as to what you mean with this:
quote: v.3.6 IP cross-matching (standard)
What would such a function do ? I've tried to Google it, but I don't get it... Do you mean something like a reverse lookup, and if the domainname is blacklisted, denying access?< |

I have kept myself away from this topic, and the people who should provide info have been providing it. As it has been said, 3.4.06 has been out, 3.5 is nearing. 4.0 is definitely not for the short term and Huw just broke some news about a move that most people wouldn't think possible in such a short notice: a .net 2.0 Snitz version.
I say this is a lotta info and I can't break it any better than it has been done by Huw, Davio, David, Shaggy and so forth. Frankly speaking, I don't see that many valuable dev members being away, with the possible exception of Richard, but the rest of the people who contributed is essencially here. Even Huw has come back to semi-retirement and has provided both help at the forums and surely great help with the development (you'll know more about it in the future), so if there is someone / something adrift and ruderless it surely is not Snitz.

The roadmap changes depending on current situations. It should have been 3.4.06 then 4.0. But with the rise in spammers across different forums, we had to work on a 3.5.
If no other problems arise to put out a 3.6, then 4.0 will be next.
You're quite right, the steam that the snitz team had, years back has boiled down to a simmer. We aren't churning code out like it used to be. But it doesn't mean we are not doing anything. Really, I am more grateful there is actually persons willing to continue working this code out of there free time. Grateful that Huwr is actually still around to give us a hand and working with us on a .Net version. Majority, if not all of the admins who originally started work on the project have retired, like Mike, Gor, Richard and Huwr who is semi-retired.
So yeah, we are struggling along with what we have to work with. Give us a break. We're working on 3.5 for you, then version 4 some time after.
Ask me about the road map again 6 months from now. < |

Looks like there're a few people here who could learn some things from this article and the follow up entry in my 'blog from the 30th of August 2004.

Davio,
The Snitz I knew had no Mike or Gor, except for the posts we can still find in the archive, and obviously for their contributions in the code. So, in terms of active contributions, probably Richard's is the most noticeably missing, but if we look at things, development wise I'd say we're at the best stretch in 2 / 3 years.< |

Rui, you're young.
I was around when Gor was the main development lead. He was great! Then Huwr and Richard came on and helped out and then eventually took over.
And obviously Mike was there in the early days also.

I agree.< |

Shaggy I ame agree with the article - But when in this topic is been said that the release of version 4 will be come soon then I ame free to ask about the progress - and the development team is free to answer. I have never asked about a release date.
The title off this topic begins with "Wish List" and information about the progress is a wish.
The last repley's have give me an answer to my wish about information.< |

actually claddon you stated you had the right to know the progress, yet if you agree with the article then you should agree you have no right to know, you can't have it both ways.< |

Yeah. . .you guys have hijacked my topic. Would you mind starting a separate thread about a updated Snitz? Thanks.
One more wish: In the Main Forum configuation (in the Admin Options) in the "Forum's Copyright" window it puts the (c) symbol and copright owner on screen. Could another "Message" window be put in place. See what I'm trying to do here: http://www.eaglecapowners.com/forum/default.asp Look at the bottom of the page - the (c) notice appears first. Do you get my drift. . . < |

so in other words you want the Forum's Copyright: to be not the Forum's Copyright: !!!! you could just add your own text in front ofthe © symbol instead of Hijacking the forum copyright variable for something other than it was designed for < |

Sounds like you're just after cash Huw!
What is the "something" that myself and a lot of other people give back is the time spent on this forum providing (unpaid) support for each other and new users. I don't want MONEY to do this, I think we deserve a bit of RESPECT and VISIBILITY into what is happenning with the product. I'm not demanding dates, I don't really want dates, but I don't understand why we have to push and shove to get a comment about 3.6 or a .Net version, etc...< |
