The only thing that will be different is the line number's, other than that it doesn't matter which version you are using, it should still work. |

I would like to add two of the features discussed in this Topic and am having some difficulty. I have tried the files listed here and have followed the instructions and have downloaded the prepared files. The information and files appear to be for an earlier version of the Forum and I can't quite get it working.
I would like to implement the following: - Forum & Category Order
- Minimizing Categories
I am using Snitz Forums 2000 Version 3.1 SR4. Would anyone have the necessary files ready for use and download?
Just two more questions: Would any of the developers know if the above features are planned for inclusion to upcoming releases? Will the Who's Online, Topic Ratings, Private Messages, etc. additions by Scott LeMieux be included as well?
Thanks to all the folks who worked on this application... this really is terrific stuff!

I have a newer version of this mod that uses it's own .asp file instead of making modifications to post.asp and postinfo.asp, plus it puts the ordering of Categories and forums all on one page.
here is a screenshot of the admin screen:

I'll write up the instructions and post the .zip file tonight in a new thread and then close this thread.
If you've already run the database setup script, then you won't need to with the new version, it uses the same database fields. |

Thanks Richard... would you happen to know if I can safely add the features by Scott LeMieux to the Forum version I am using and if they (any your) additions will be included in future versions? thanks again

All of Scott's additions should work, the Private Messages Mod needs some modification to work though, due to the change in the cookie structure.
I have a version that I did here:
http://www11.ewebcity.com/dssdbs/files/customsnitzv31sr4.zip
For a demo see here: http://kinser.121host.net/v31sr4/default.asp
It includes the Private Message and Who's Online by Scott, plus the Category/Forum Sorting I showed above. Plus some other little features that I added.
I can't say whether or not any of these features will be added to the Forum, they may remain as add-ons. Mike and Gor make those decisions.

Thanks again Richard!
I am in the process of making a few color changes... you have done a remarkable amount of work here and I appreciate you providing it to me. I have added the necessary database items and made a few changes to work with my system and all seems to be going very well.
One further question... could you point me to where you made the changes to the scroll bars? I think I would like to return them to the defaults.
thanks very much!

In inc_top.asp look for the line that starts with:
body {scrollbar-track-color:#000000;
Just delete that entire line. |

Richard, would it be possible to get you to convert the database from this archive to an Access 97 database and to send it to me?
hellrazor@hellrazor.net
Thanks!

It'll be a little while. I don't have Access2000 at work (where I'm at for the next 5 hours), I can do it when I get home.
In the mean time, you can use a script available here: http://www.2enetworx.com/dev/projects/tableeditor.asp
to add/delete/modify fields in that Access 2000 database.
I use it on one of my sites and it works pretty good. Since you have Access97, be sure to download the Access97 database for it if you want to edit the username/password in case you forget it.
