here's what I did to get it work with davemaxwell's minimized category, and it seems working out smooth without any problems.
Inside the catforumsort.zip, replaces the post.asp & post_info.asp only, and use davemaxwell's default.asp page. BTW, those database fields still need to be created.
Hope this won't rise any debugger's attention <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

oh..also, remember to find the line that has "sort category" and add that to davemaxwell's default.asp, or else you won't be able to sort categories. <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hi Richard,
I tried to use the Sorting forums feature by unzipping <b>catforumsort.zip</b> to the forum directory and I got the following mistake:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e10'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too few parameters. Expected 1.
/forum/Default.asp, line 84
What did I do wrong? Is there anything I have to modify? Do you know how to fix it?

did you run the database setup? It's called <b>cat_forum_sort_setup.asp</b>
Just run it from the address bar in your browser. |

I did run that file, and here's what I got:
ALTER TABLE FORUM_FORUM ADD FORUM_ORDER int DEFAULT 1 NULL;
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in ALTER TABLE statement.
/forum/cat_forum_sort_setup.asp, line 11

try editing the <b>cat_forum_sort_setup.asp</b> file and remove the <b>DEFAULT 1</b> part. (It is in 2 places in that file.) |

What version of the forum are you using? And do you have any mods such as the "Who's Online" or "Private Messages" installed? I can just provide you with an already modified default.asp if you want.
There is a thread about the minimizing categories mod here:

I'm using Snitz 3.1 SR2. I would appreciate it very much if you can send me the already modified default.asp.

Thanks for sending the file. But you know what? It's so weird that the first time you sent me, the file was screwd up, now when you send me to my yahoo email, I can't download it. I got <b>login.htm</b> instead of default.zip.
Anyway, I used HUWR's default page, it works fine now, except some lil problems with <b>who's online</b>. It seems not to fucntion well at all. Thanks!

I'm not sure why, but here's the problem:
Sometimes I'm on the board, but it displays there's neither member nor guest is on board. Another obvious problem I encouter today was that, my friend and I were on the board at the same time, but it displays only one member was on. We tried to refresh our browsers a couple of tiems, but it was still the same. Have any clues? Thanks!
