can any one clue me into y this might be happening? im getting this:Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/forum/inc_functions.asp, line 644

i didn't alter anything prior to install and right off the bat i was greeted with that line after the db loaded.

Your permissions aren't correct on your database directory. Contact your host and have them set read/write permissions on the directory that has your database in it.

hmm.. i was thinking that was the issue, but its in an fpdb folder which should be r/w access.. i'll send them an email though just to make sure

eric, just checked and it should be in the writeable directory.. would there be a diff from writeable and read/write?

Make sure IUSR_<<machinename>> has read/write (writable should be OK, I'd think) on the directory AND the database. You need both....

You definitely are having a permission problem, so it's on one of the two...

if it is a win2K server, it may also require modify rights
