I think that the one criticism I'd have with Snitz Forums, is that another user level is needed between Moderator and Administrator. This new user level should have Moderator privaleges for all forums, and be able to add/delete/modify categories, etc... However, they should not have access to the 'extra' admin stuff, like the Admin options, editing/locking members, etc...

Could someone with experience of MOD authoring produce a MOD for this. I would find it very usefull, as I'm sure other admins would.

i dont see how this would be so beneficial, allowing a member to have parts of the admin options sounds dangerous to me...

The way it would work is to make certain people 'Global Moderators'. They would be in between Moderators and Admins. They would be able to move, and edit posts anywhere on the forum (like Administrators), but unable to access the Admin options.
I realise that you could manually add a member to moderate all of the forums, but they would not be able to edit/add categories, etc...

hmmm....I thought a global moderator option was outthere already?...follow SniffinGlue´s work on usergroups...may turn out to be VERY interesting (...and yet unseen in an opensource product...except ArsDigita, maybe)

I will take a look, I don't think this will be as difficult as you think although there are many pages that would need editing but with minor edits. Are you looking for the concept to be explained or actual coding?

The actual coding if you don't mind.

hmmmm.....why not wait for usergroups and admin/moderator levels at cat/subcatlevel? - should be the major issue for 3.4 - after multilanguage.
