If you are using Access it is simple: just copy the database and the forum-scriptfiles to the new server, edit config.asp so the path to the database is correct again, run http://www.newserver.com/forum/setup.asp so that de application variables get loaded, then goto the Admin Options to change the urls for forum-home etc.

All settings, users, posts and replies are in that database-file. Unless you used an old(er) backup, there should be no loss of any of those. Wouldn't know a reason why...or a way how you could loose those if all you did was an instant copy of the database and files from one server to the other...

Try running Update Counts from the Admin Options
Do you have a URL so we can look at your forum? |

I just did this (from one server to another) and as far as I can see MOST things are working. One thing that is not - is that I have no "Admin Options" in the upper right corner like I use to have. I have to get to it with the URL /admin_setup_options.asp.
I could use some help on trying to figure this one out. Could it have anything to do with the way Snitz store the cookies? Is it not remembering that I am admin?
Thanks, Shep

Did that and get an OK I noticed yet another thing - I cannot log in.
It lets me go through the process and says I logged in sucessfully - but the "log me in" button is still active and I am not logged in. I tried to send mail and it verified that I was not logged in.

Richard I still have some issues with the 3 forums I changed over to our new server. Topics do don't come accoss as read - etc. Displays wrong # of active topics "since last logged in", etc.
If you still want me to change admin - let me know - I can work on this today.

Sorry, I don't quite undertand what you mean by forum-scriptfiles. Would you please tell me more? I download all the data from old server and then upload it to the new server, except for the database. I used the original database to upload. The forum will show up, but when I upload my new database, it shows up the error message like the database format cannot be recognized. I am using access2000 too.

The "script files" are simply the ASP files that came with the forum.
You have to give config.asp the "path" to the new/old database. If you put in in the same place-same directory on the new server your OK - if not edit config.asp and tell it where the DBF file is.
Also - make sure you have given the directory the DBF file is in - wread and write permissions. The directory that your ASP files are in will need "script and executable" permission.
Hope that helps, Shep
