Try looking at this:

I've had trouble logging out whenever I have two browser windows open and I've logged in with both browsers. Just close your browsers, goto the "Temporary Internet Files" folder (C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files) and erase everything in there (that'll delete your cookies) then you should be able to logout

I've recently found, at least with Opera, that when you sign in/out and you click on the link that says "return to forum" it doesn't log you in/out. However, if you don't click the link and wait for the browser to auto-redirect you back to the forum, you're logged in/out.

Might try this with other browsers if you're having trouble.

In Opera, it does log you in/out, it's just showing you the cached page instead of the new page.
