Hi, I don't get it. I have installed the forum yesterday, logged in as Admin with the admin password and have been able to configure my Forum. Then I changed the password for Admin. Today I logged in with my new password, but it doesn't seem to recognize me as the administrator anymore. I can't get past the admin_login page ! Also, I don't see the Admin Options anymore... Can anyone help me out? My forum is located at http://www.therealvr.com/forum3/
Thanks! ~Ellen~

Hi Ellen,
I looked at your forum and noticed that you created a category "VR History" and missed that you need to create at least one topic in a new Category!
Can you correct this problem and try again? I don't really know if it's gonna solve the problem - but try! Tomas

Well... I have logged in as Admin on a friend's computer and there I DID have all the admin options... but it's still not working on my own computer !!
And it's not nice to have to go out on my bike in the pooring rain each time you want to do some administrating on my Forum, so...
Can anyone please tell me how I can get things back to normal on my OWN computer...???
Much obliged, ~Ellen~

Well Ellen, I'm not a programmer, but i'm pretty sure your problem is related to the databas and the initialy missing Topic in the new Category. The databas members table store your IP address and relate that to your atempt to log in. When you went to your friend it didn't connect the admin conto to your machine. That's my theory of why you succeded loggin in at your pale.
Your forums is brand new, as I can see, and there are only you and me as members. I would replace the forums databas with a brand new upload. I had the same problem as you, and that was what I had to do in order to put things right on the road again. Cheers / Tomas

Ellen, send me your admin password and I'll see what might be the problem.
You could also try deleting the cookies from your Cache.

Ellen understands what I mean when I say that this probably is "mosterd na de maaltijd", but I'm going to ask it anyway:
Could it be that you switched the cookiesetting of the forum from forum -> website and/or from website -> forum ? That could be causing this problem, and then deleting the cookies on you pc fixes it.

Hoi Pierre,
How nice to have found someone who speaks Dutch !! I wish it was "mosterd na de maaltijd" but alas... Right now I'm having login problems again. In fact, I'm not able to login to my forum anymore from my computer with any registered username or password. I keep getting bounced back to the first login page!
You are correct, I did originally change the cookie setting from Forum to Website. Then Davio mailed me about this and I changed it back ( using a friend's computer to login). Then I deleted all the Cookies from my computer and cleared the cache again but... nothing changed...
I'd appreciate it if you could email me so we can discuss this in Dutch :)
Groetjes, ~Ellen~
PS. If it helps any... I'm having the same login problems on this Snitz 2000 forum !!

Gor, I can't figure out why that's happening. Ellen had originally set the Cookie Setting to Website. I asked him/her to change it back and see if that works, as he/she said, that didn't work either. But looking at his/her symtoms, it's just not creating the cookie. Since it says you have successfully logged in. But then back at the page it shows that she isn't logged in. It means the pass and username is correct in the database, but the cookie wasn't created.
Got me stumped. Maybe it has something to do with how the server is setup?

Yep... definitely a she !
BTW... my login problem appears to be browser specific, since I've been having no problems so far using Netscape...

I would gues it is a setting in IE to do with security/cookies which is causing your problem.

Yeah, probably.
Ellen, Check to make sure you have Cookies Enabled. In Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Internet Options. Click on the Security Tab and click the Custom Level button. When you scroll down, you will see the Cookies options. Select Enabled for them. Or if you want to know when a website is setting a cookie, you can select prompt. It will tell you each time a cookie is being set.
Then delete your cookies and internet cache. Close down your browser, and try logging in again.

Well...it isn't IE specific either, because I didn't have problems using IE 5.0 But like Davio suggested, it could ofcourse be a setting in IE that is wrong.
