Where can I get the "search" function you are using on this forum? It has some nice additions.

Thank you Huw, the system description is there but the link doesn't seem to go to the files any more. Anyone have any idea where I can download the relevant files?

I think this is the one \download\SnitzSQLSearchMod_i.zip

basically replace your search.asp with searchFT.asp

you will also need to set a few variables at the top of the file

const intUsePaging = 1
const intUseMSSQLFT = 1
const intUseMySQLFT = 0

if you want to use the fulltext searching (as here) you will need to apply the createindexes sql script, and create the fulltext catalogue for your specific database. On the following Tables/Fields
FORUM_TOPICS (T_MESSAGE/T_SUBJECT)
FORUM_REPLY (R_MESSAGE)
FORUM_A_TOPICS (T_MESSAGE/T_SUBJECT)
FORUM_A_REPLY (R_MESSAGE)

I suspect you meant this: ../download/SnitzSQLSearchMod_i.zip

Thank you Huw.
I haven't made it work with MySql but I will go on playing with it (I did edit searchFT.asp to use search_mysql.asp but I haven't managed to create the fulltext indexes yet.

Unfortunately I can't help with that part as only familiar with MS SQL

Then you are probably using the server that it is hosted upon to browse with. From here, your original link results in a 404 page and the version I posted allows a download.

definitely not, I never use the browser on the server.

when using the mvc version, the url you posted results in http://forum.snitz.com/Mvc/Topic/download/SnitzSQLSearchMod_i.zip (which is wrong)
but from the classic asp version bothe links point at http://forum.snitz.com/download/SnitzSQLSearchMod_i.zip

Maybe it is browser related, what browser are you using?

Well, I'm using Firefox ... but the link I posted points to http://forum.snitz.com/download/SnitzSQLSearchMod_i.zip when I right-click it and copy the URL. Your link points to this: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/\download\SnitzSQLSearchMod_i.zip
- and that tells all of my browsers (Edge, IE, and FF) that it just doesn't exist. Edge converts the backslash into a second forward slash, but the other two browsers leave it alone. Regardless, none of them can find the file. All three DO find the file with the link I posted.

The only one that gives me a problem is firefox, IE, Edge and Chrome all work fine with either yours or my links

correct link should actually be /download/SnitzSQLSearchMod_i.zip it doesn't need the .., it would then also work correctly from the mvc url whereas the .. doesn't due to a different relative url.
