My forums aren't loading. What would cause this error message?
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 5: Access is denied. (MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver, C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\Connector ODBC 5.1\myodbc5.dll).

Speak to your web host about it. Sounds like something went wrong on the server. |

I reported it right after posting about it. Hosting didn't say what happened but they are working on it.
Thank you, David, for clarifying it's not a Snitz forum problem!

Everything not associated with the database loads fine. So, any idea what could be causing this?
Just wondering. . .

. . .and obviously frustrated after forums being down for 12 hours now!

It does look like the hosting company has changed the access rights to the database at the operating system level. |

Could have been. They have it fixed now. Thank goodness!
I guess I'll never know for sure what caused it though.

I remember now, that was the first thing they asked me if I had done.
What reason could they possibly have for making changes like that, other than just a stupid mistake?!

An acquaintance who is on the same server just told me that she's unable to receive her webmail. She's receiving this error below.
Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005'
Server.CreateObject Access Error
The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is denied to this object.
I'm sure the two problems (hers and mine) must be somehow related!

They need to make sure that the following have write permissions to the folder(s) where the databases are stored:
IUSR IIS_IUSRS NETWORK SERVICE
I suspect that at least one of the first two is missing. |

I gave the directories proper write permissions when setting up everything, and everything has been working fine for months now. So the question is: what could they have done to have caused this, Carefree?

Whatever they did MaGraham, it messed up the permissions on your website. Both for your database and folders and for your acquaintance.
There could be a long list of things that they could have done. What they need to do is fix it. Maybe they will let you in on what they did to cause it. |

They have everything fixed now.
I really doubt they will ever mention what they did to cause the problem though. But hey, no one is perfect!
