Hi
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to convert a Snitz Forum to static HTML?
I'm looking at closing down an entire Forum, do away with the database entirely, but still have the contents (posts) of the forum still available online as a non-functional, non updatable, reference source.
Thanks |

An automated solution for that does not currently exist.
You could do a "Save As" of each page, which would be rather time consuming if you had even a moderately active forum.
A program could be written, but it would probably take some time and if there are any internal links in the post they will likely get broken... which brings me to another concern with your idea - all external links would be broken.
If you're going to keep the site up for reference, it wouldn't be too hard to just block new topics/replies/membership registration and let it be as-is. Or is there another reason you want to export it as HTML-only? |

There was a mod a long while back that converted threads to html for search engines to index. The html page auto refreshed to take a reader to the actual thread
I suppose this could be adapted if you could find it |

There is this thing called: Topic Maker (Static META Tag)
The MOD is at: SnitzBitz
You should be able to convert it to not redirect or give me until the week-end to re-write it. |

Hi AnonJr
The reason for the html only is to do away with the database.

Hi,
Download a version of HTTRACK (its freeware), and download a copy of your forum using it.
It will create all the HTML pages for you, and then you can upload the copy to the web and use it without the Database.
Make sure you turn off registration, lock forums, etc before you start as not to confuse people.
Hope that helps,
Pierre |
