Hi all
I was wondering what happens to the sigs people have currently if I disable them and then enable them again. Are the sigs people have in their profiles lost completely or do they remain hidden until I enable sigs and members post again?
Thanks in advance for your response. I've searched but not found what I'm looking for. |

It depends on if you have Dynamic Signatures also turned on.
If you have Signatures turned on, but Dynamic Signatures turned off, each signature is inseparable with its corresponding post. This means that you can't make it disappear in the admin section when turning neither Signatures off and turning Dynamic Signatures off. The signature is a part of the post.
If you have Dynamic Signatures turned on, then any signature allowed with the post during this time is not stored with the post. It is pulled from the members table and appended to the post after it is viewed on topic.asp.
If you find that some signatures still appear in posts (when Dynamic Signatures was turned off before it was ever turned on) while other signatures do not appear at all (after you turned Dynamic Signatures off when it was on previously), then there is little you can do to make those posted signatures non-viewable.
The only way to ensure that all signatures in all posts are viewable or not viewable via the Admin section is to have had both Signatures turned on and Dynamic Signatures turned on from the beginning before any signatures were added to the posts.
Dynamic Signatures adds an additional perk for your members, in that, information contained in their signatures can be changed for all posts from their member profile and they are not stuck with the reputation or commitment perhaps contained in an earlier signature.

This is what I wanted to know, thank you for your quick response
Etymon, it was more to do a mass-deletion of members' signatures I was after, rather than whether or not sigs can be viewed, but thank you for your response, I appreciate it |
