We have assigned a moderator to our forum and enabled the setting in the administration. However, posts are appearing without moderation.
Also, we want to set up a way that users must be "approved" by the moderator - much like this forum. HELP!!! |

Login as forum administrator. Edit the category containing the forum to be moderated, setting "Moderation allowed in this category" for Moderation option. Post changes. Now edit the forum you want to be moderated, setting the Moderation level you required. Post changes. Done. |

Only admins can approve new members. To enable this feature, go to the e-mail server configuration section of your admin options and set "Restrict Registration" to "On" (note that e-mail validation must also be enabled in order to use this feature).

As an Administrator or Moderator, wouldn't the posts appear so you know what needs to be moderatored? Suggest that you create a normal user account and see if the posts are showing up then, my suggestion would be they are not viewable.

Let us know if that is the case. |

Thanks guys for all the responses. First: let me clarify that I am not an IT person or programmer just someone who is trying to find a creative way for our sales guys to share stories without letting the whole world in. So alot of these places are hunt and peck for me to find.
@Classicmotorcycling: I have two normal user accounts plus several other people testing for me. I was not given the chance to approve the users who signed up and they can post whatever they want - provided they have the password I assigned (this function is working). My own "normal" account posts how immediately as well.
@PBSoft: I don't see where I'm supposed to access this? Under Admin Options? When logged in as an Admin there is no place that allows me to edit the Categories (in reality, we just have the one forum so I don't really have "categories" other than the default).
@Shaggy: This was something I had not done but I found it and made the change. However, when I created a third new normal user account, I was told incorrect username/password (even though they were correct) and received no email to approve the new user.
I'm at a loss. V]

To send the validation e-mail, you must first approve the new member in the pending members section of your admin options.
You edit the properties of categories & forums from default.asp rather than through your admin options.
