Hi all, we have a Mysql database and I just backed it up because were doing some work on our site, we have a fairly busy forum 130,000 posts and 250,000 archived posts. When I backed the forum up it was 125meg is that right? Seems massive to me.

Sounds a normal thing to me, for that number of posts.

Would also depend on how you backed it up. For phpmyadmin, it gives you a number of options on backing up your mysql data. Did you back up to a sql file or something else?

Well its the first time I have ever backed it up, I used SQL Administrator, simply using the back up feature.

MySQL Administrator will back up your database to an sql file. So yeah that size sounds about right.

Thanks, I have noticed that the iplog is 0.9gb, is there a way to only keep a certain history of IP's via the forum admin?

You can configure IPgate to automatically delete log records older than a certain time.

I think rui was assuming iplog table is related to the ipgate mod. If you don't have ipgate mod installed, what mod uses the iplog table?

As far as I know, FORUM_IPLOG is a table created by IPgate. If you are not using it, you can just delete the existing records using a SQL statement, in phpmyadmin:

DELETE * FROM FORUM_IPLOG

No idea.....now we had ipgate installed before you brought out a updated version of the forum, I guess thats what is in iplog..in this case would it be ok to just delete that from the database or should I leave well alone? bearing in mind I really don't have a clue what I am doing.

If you think you will add ipgate again, leave it there. If not, it can be deleted.
