Hi

Just updated about a week ago to IE 8 from 7 and now having problems with a Snitz forum I’ve been a regular on for a couple of years. No previous problems when using Windows 98 and then IE 7. Checked FAQs but nothing seemed to come up....?

Now when clicking on both the Preview button as well as any link URL to another site nothing happens. Fortunately I also have Millenium on the same computer, which I'm using now, with no preview problems at all. I’m definitely not a techie but would appreciate any advice as to whether this might be a problem with Microsoft or something that can be sorted via Snitz....?

Thanks in advance

Hoping

It is not only Snitz, I had the same issue with IE 8 on other sites that do not run Snitz and ended up going back to IE 7 with no issues. If you open the same site that you have the issue with a few times in the tabs, it ends up opening. It is an IE 8 IMHO.

Cheers,

David Greening

Hi CMC

Thanks for that. As I said I'm definitely no techie at all and hadn't used tabs before, so assuming tabs are the same as the old separate long grey rectangular boxes for each web page that used to lie along the bottom edge of the screen on '98 and Millenium, I tried both these options by switching backwards and forwards bewteen all of them without any luck. Should I just keep using the tabs only ?

Anyway I then uninstalled IE 8 to go back to 7 and found that didn't work any more either !

Still Hoping
Now I can't preview this message !

IE 8 has a compatability mode that can solve some issues with the way websites display. You could try clicking it and see what happens. The button is on the far right of the address bar:

Thanks LL. Just uploaded IE 8 again and then tried compatibility mode but Preview is still not working, unfortunately. Which one are you using ?

IE8 has a built-in pop-up blocker. Check and see if the preview and other links are being blocked. I use IE8 at work all the time with no issues here, and few elsewhere...

Been using IE 8 since the beta stage and never had problems with any Snitz based forum (and I visit quite a few on a regular basis).

Bullseye simple !!!! I just turned it off in the Tools dropdown menu so thanks a lot !! Bit odd they treated it as a Pop-up still anything's better than trudging to Microsoft as a clueless non-techie !
