What does Update Forum Counts do?
When I click on it I see the updating page, but it sits there for a very long time. How long should it take to do the processing?

It depends on the size of your forum and does exactly what it says on the tin, updates the counts of posts in forums & categories in case they're out of sync for whatever reason.

It's rare enough that you should need to use it, usually only if you spot some counts that you think may be wrong or you've recently deleted a lot of posts and want to be sure everything's OK.
