Whenever I go to install a new MOD, they usually say to select the MOD from a drop-down list. Where is this drop-down list? I go into Admin Options >> MOD Setup but there is no drop-down list. I am using the Access db, if that makes a difference.
How do I install a MOD that wants me to do this? I had successfully installed the avatars MOD by copying the code from the *db*.asp file and pasting it into the MOD Setup box.
Problem is, though, that I seem to be unable to do the same for the active users MOD (click on the link in my signature and find the Test Forums to see the exact error).
What do I do to update my forum db so that I can get it to work? |

Usually the instructions tell you to upload the dbs_whatever.asp file to your forum directory. After you've uploaded the dbs file, you'll see it on the list.
Having said that, its functionally the same as copying the contents into the Alt. MOD Setup and running it that way - just less work than the ole copy/paste. (and you don't have to worry about accidentally not copying part of the file...)
Also, just as an FYI, there are a number of us who brows the forum with "Veiw Sig" off. If you really want us to go to the site, include the link in the post. |

I still don't see the dbs file on a list, so copy & paste only works in the Alt. MOD setup? It doesn't work in the normal MOD setup? To get the dbs file to show up, do I maybe have to open it from the web?
And thanks for the fyi, lol. I was posting that from my DS and couldn't make the link very easily, so I'll keep that in mind, lol.
Ok, lol. I found the error I made. I was trying to copy & paste the audbsetup.asp file, not the dbs_activeusers.asp file, lol.
Btw, for me, the normal MOD setup and the Alt MOD setup are the same? I click on one and when I go back to the Admin home, they both are the same color the one for visited links. |

The "regular" Mod Setup requires the FileSystemObject in order to work.

You will have to ask your host as some hosts disable the FileSystemObject. If they have disabled it, you can keep using the Alt MOD Setup as you have been. You'll get the same end results as long as you don't miss anything in the copy/paste. |

if you use the 'alternate mod setup' then you don't need to use the other method, either works just as well, the alternate method was written for people who did not have access to the file system object |

Ok, this is semi-off-topic
Does anyone use www.titanichost.com as their host? Because I have been unable to find a way to contact them and there are several reasons that I need to contact them for, such as this. One of the main problems is that I can not locate their mail program in order to have the e-mail validation work. Does anyone know where I can get good free e-mail hosting (I don't mean to host my entire site, I mean that I can set up Snitz to send those validation e-mails through)? Right now, I have them going through inc.inbox.com, but it sends e-mails to inbox.com e-mails immediately, but right now, I'm STILL waiting on the validation e-mail to come through to my yahoo for the test account I made two weeks ago.
(ok, maybe that was a little more than semi-) |
