I have observed the Events Calendar does not edit events ok. Start off by adding an event Start date 28 July End Date 31 July Title Test Messsge Test Message Recurring Every Day The topic will be added, and the calendar shows event ok.
Goto edit event Editmessage Test Message two Recurring Every Day Change All Dates Submit I notice in topic that the message was not changed and if you go to the daily view for the 31 July there is two events of the same.SEE link and calendar view 31 Jul
Aditionally, if you go to edit an event change the message, Recurring Every Day Change This Day only Again the message does not change
When editting an event,do we have to select the mini calendars start date and end date tothe corresponding event dates to be editted.
Should the start end date calendars pick up the actual event date span ie 28 Jul - 31Jul
Something seems not right< |

I think you still have to choose the dates, because you can edit a subset (specific range of dates) from within the original period.
That being said, I tried editing a single date in the test forum & it changed all subsequent dates. I think there must be a variable reversed - will investigate more.< |

Well, you definitely have to choose the dates because it will default to the current date selected if you do not.
However, the process used to determine which dates to edit is proving a bit more difficult. It uses option values (1-3), chosen in lines 132-134 of "cal_post.asp" but I cannot find any place where it actually acts upon the choice made. When it returns from cal_post.asp to post.asp, there is no provision made for any option selected.< |

This is not what I'm experiencing at all. I have just the right number of events/topics; they do change when I tell them to. The only issue I'm having is in telling it WHEN to change the text, since my wishes aren't important lol.< |

Ok - I found the routine where it looks at the case selection, it's in "cal_post_info2.asp", appx lines 29-60.
I now have it changing the text properly for ALL dates; however, if I select a specific date or subset of dates from within a range, it still changes all dates. Investigation continues.< |

weird is'nt it. I would have thought if we entered an event with a date range, when coming to edit it, primarily the start date calendar should show the first date and the end date calendar should show the finish date. At the moment if you edit from within a range, it selects the day that you have entered the edit from. Unless you record the date range mentally, before going into the edit screen there is no way of ensuring you have the right range.
I would have thought, if you select a particular day in a range, and chooce to edit the message for that day only then the event will be amended for that day only. Making it complicated, but its how you would expect to read the individual event in the daily or weekly view.< |

I believe it shows the range of the dates by color-shading the closing calendar for the dates in question.
However, the issue of it changing all dates (regardless of what you tell it to do) is pretty irritating. Be careful about what you change, though lol. While testing this issue, I changed one procedure that resulted in 78000+ events being posted - had to manually open the DBase to delete the event range.< |

Carefree - This editing issue where it will not change the message text, is it anything to do with the major problem we had displaying the message in the weekly view, where we used Formatstr(Trim(rs("T_MESSAGE")))
The other date issues are irritating as you say< |

Calling all other Events calendar users, could you confirm whether this editing issue is common to all. Again, I have installed a fresh snitz06 and the events mod and the symptoms occur.< |

Further invest into this events edit bug, I have the following: Add an Event 1. Subject Test 2. Start Date 14/08/08 3. End date 16/08/08 4. Recurring Every Day 5. Message Test Message Post event and Topic View displays this:
Edit Event from Topic View 1. Start Date shows 14/08/08 2. End Date shows 14/08/08 edit to 16/08/08 3. Recurring Every day 4. Date to edit 14/08/08 5. Change All Dates 6. Edit Message Test Message new Post Topic View shows this, noting the message has not been altered and there is an additional 16 Aug
Viewing the Weekly view for these events we notice an additional event has been duplicated in 16 Aug
Thoughts behind problem 1. When we come to edit the event either from within topic view or events calendar, if there is a series of recurring dates 14-16 Aug, surely the small calendars start and end dates should be showing these inclusive dates. 2. When we edit the message, after posting there are no changes shown in topic view or calendar view. 3. If you change an event it duplicates the event that you have selected to edit 4. If during the edit you change the every day to this date only, the other days are removed from the event topic.
Could other users try the steps I have done above to see if they experience the same issues editing events Thank you< |

I am having the same problems with this mod. Andy's last post describes it perfectly. Were these problems ever solved? I was not able to find where this was continued. |
