Hi there. Have searched these forums looking for FAQ's on manual table import procedures / ‘how to’ with no luck

I have installed Snitz last month and would like to import data from 2x copied legacy Forum copied into Excel. I have a members Table (New member IDs, Member 'Namexyz.arc', Password field) and 2x diferent forum ID post tables (post #, Forum_ID, MemberID, date&time 'in MYSQL filed format' and Post_test fields).

Not been a DBA...I believe the process to import could be something like:

1. Backup current Database
2. Import new members
date&time fields all set to first post: 20050303000000
3. Create 2x new Forums and obtaining forum_ID’s
3.1 Edit MySql table Forum_ID creation dates and change to 20050303000000
4 Merge the required two Forums into one table for ready post import into Snitz. Sort by Data&Time. Fields are:

Forum_ID, Member ID, Date&Time, Post_text
All other fields will copied over using defaults

5. Manual import Excel table into Snitz Reply table?

Because the imported legacy posts are pre Snitz install date, will the imported post replies and new members have to take Snitz table record entries 1 onwards? And current new Snits records amended to end of Members and Reply tables.

What MySQL table edition tools would you recommend ?

Member feed back and help very welcome in advance.

Thanks John, very dyslexic, no strong DBA skills what so ever. Snitz Table field names may not be correct.

yes probably best, you will also need to encrypt your users passwords before putting them inthe database as Snitz expects them to be encrypted
