Hi, I am setting up a new installation, so far everything works except the registration email isn't being sent. I do get a member pending and it will activate manually. The email members works ok. I am using CDOSYS, email mode is on, email server address is smtp.gpstrackerz.com.
Require Unique E-mail: On
E-mail Validation: On
Restrict Registration: Off
Require Logon for sending Mail: On
I have modified my inc_mail.asp file to:
Flds("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/sendusing") = 2 'cdoSendUsingPort
Flds("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserver") = strMailServer
Flds"http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpauthenticate") = cdoBasic
Flds"http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/sendusername") = "username"
Flds"http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/sendpassword") = "password". I've been through all the posts with similar problems, nothing has worked. TIA

Have you checked the Junk Mail folder?

If the e-mail to member works, it may be that the receiving mail host is filtering it as spam... unfortunately some mail services are getting overly aggressive in fighting spam and are blocking just about any e-mail that's relayed and has a link in it...

I don't think that's the case, I get emails every day with links. In fact I just registered for Snitz Forums, got the validation and followed through to complete registration.

can't think of any reason activation emails don't arrive if the email members works ok, that is normally the one that doesn't work.

did you try the alternat cdosys code that I posted a few days ago ? http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=66471#374854

That worked, by gum, thank you very much! I replaced that section of code and now have member email and registations are going through. Have a wonderful day. trackerz

very odd, that section of code has worked without issues for several years, but we have had two people in a week that needed to change it.

Could you find out for us what server / version of IIS your website is running on.

after searching your forum for about a week I came accross this question about email validation with the same issue I was having, I tried the mod from HuwR and it worked great for me as well

BTW im using server 2003 and this mod worked great on it
