Hi

Not sure of the appropriate forum for this so apologies if it is in the wrong area. Two separate issues (one came up as a result of the first!)

1) Is the customer list here accurate: http://forum.snitz.com/customers.asp
None of the sites look like snitz sites. Apart from anything else, there is no snitz logo.
2) I was initially unable to register to ask this question. When completing the registration form (in Firefox) selecting the year of DoB was not recognised. I had to use IE to register. When I selected the year of birth using IE the month, and subsequently day, appeared correctly

Cheers

To address your second question, can you try again with FF's Error Console open and report back with anything it throws up. That script was initially written for FF (and then tested on other browsers) and is working fine for me. Even if you had javascript turned off, you should be able to enter your DOB.

Ah brilliant - a good old fashioned unreproducible error. I just went on now and it worked fine. Ho hum. Apols Shaggy and thanks for the response.

I've trawled the "show off your site" forum and grabbed the URLs of some sites I can use for proof of concept here so the first point is just for your own interest to follow up on if you think it is required.

Yes, that list is quite out of date by now; ForumCo is the only one of those 3 still using Snitz. The "Show Off Your Forum" forum, as you've discovered, is your best source for inspiration and sample implementations. If there's anything specific you're looking for, be sure to let us know

The "show off your site" forum is probably the better source anyway as it has some more recent additions.

Pootle_flump, indeed, SFN and Trains.com no longer use Snitz. Erick of SFN has done a great job in using the base Snitz to grow to the forum he now has.

Forumco however sure uses Snitz: http://demo.forumco.com/

Thanks guys

Let me know if you want a new thread for this question instead - again I can't find an obvious forum.

I was brought in to see if I could help on a project. I know snitz from contributing to sqlteam.com and reading (before it changed to a frankly inferior format) sql-server-performance.com and knew that technically it is appropriate to the requirements I was presented with.

We are making a client bid. We believe that incorporating some forum software would add a lot of value to the bid. We don't intend this to increase the $ value of the bid but to make it a more attractive proposition to the client. We would not be reselling any code\ product - our proposition is a hosted and managed service part of which would constitute a community & forum, hopefully powered by snitz.

I'm a techy so the legal ins and outs makes little sense to me - does the snitz license preclude this sort of activity?

Thanks

As long as you're not trying to charge directly for the Snitz source code and can supply your client with the Snitz files upon request, you're in the clear. In this case you're charging the client for building and hosting the site so that's OK - you could even charge them to set the forum up for them just as long as you're not getting money off them for the actual forum itself.
