I discovered that I put a .net extension on my e-amil when I intended a .org. However, even logged into my site as administrator, it won't accept it when I attempt to change this. Any thoughts on how to do this?

Are you changing it on your profile page or in the Email/Server Config page in the admin area? Are you getting an error of some kind ?

If you are changing it on your profile page you usually have to confim it by clicking a link in the email you will receive.

That would be a further complication, since I have yet to get the e-mail working.

This is the error message I get when I try to submit my change:
"There Was A Problem With Your Details. Your request was not sent due to the following error: The server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response was: 550 No such user here."

My own site has disowned me.

That error sounds as if you have got email working and that the destination mail server has a problem with the email address you are trying to send an email to. Are you sure that you are entering a valid email address ?

If you have access to the database you could change the administrators email address directly in the forum_members table.

Easiest way: turn email validation Off, change the email address, then turn email validation On again.

Excellent suggestion, ruirib. That worked. With regard to Podge's suggestion, I do wonder why I can't edit files via my ftp connection, since I can darg-and-drop files into it, but it does not let me edit. I can download the database back to my computer and edit it and presumably upload it again, but the other option worked much more easily.

In spite of reading tons of Snitz postings regarding e-mail and changing my inc_mail.asp per suggestions, I can't get e-mail to work. I'll take this one to that forum and ask for assistance.

many thanks to both of you on this one!
