Like Gor, I'm usually a big fan of pop-ups but I think Stim's solution for previewing is a big improvement over the cookie-based approach.

One problem I'm seeing: "Back" or the back button loses your "post" too often so you come back not to edit, but to start over thus defeating the purpose of previewing .

It seems like it's worst when using a smilie (with pop-up) for some reason or other. Anyway, has anyone else seen this, or is it just me?

Kerry,

I have 2 other different versions running on my site here:

http://kinser.121host.net/v31sr4/default.asp

Would you mind checking them out.

The non-popup one is one that I did, the popup one is using code that Huw provided.

Neither of them uses cookies.

The pop-up works fine, but the non-pop version shows the same behavior as Stim's (holds info unless you select a smilie from the smilie pop-up).

...BTW, NICE mods there!

I think I remember reading somewhere about how to have form fields not lose their values when you go back to the page. I'll try to find it.

The fields won't loose it's values when you ogo back in history ex.:

<a href="" onClick="parent.history.back(); return false;" onMouseOver="self.status='Go Back'; return true;">Go Back</a>
