i help to administer a site that has been running for several years.
we have a large group of active members, but for every active member we have ten who signed up, posted once, or not at all, and we have not seen from them again.
how do most of you handle this. do you just leave the accounts active, or do you clean them out from time to time?
if you clean them, how? |

Deleting the users is a bad plan, as you'll orphan all their posts (however few) - you could lock the members, but it's not like you'll get a massive performance boost or anything, and if one of your infrequent posters suddenly remembers you and comes back to you, they're just ready to slot back in like the old friend they are, and may start posting again! |

I wouldn't worry about them myself. It isn't going to hurt performance, and like pdrg said - if they ever come back theres no "what happened to my account" moment. |
