I have set intCookieDuration to 1 but for some reason in the forum variables it is still showing as 30. Getting a little frustrated lol.

Have you tested whether or not the cookie is actually expiring after a day? And, not to sound insulting, but did you upload the modified config.asp (you'd be surprised how often even the best of us can get waylaid by something stupid like that!)?

lol yes i have done that before forgetting to upload or uploading an original file and not the altered one. I even downloaded the config.asp and checked to make sure it was the correct one and all is well there.
I will know in a few hours if the cookie is expiring but wont be here so will post back when i get home.
I just like it when the forum shows me what i want to see, i'm going more bald with each change i make

OK, well, we may as well wait 'til then to see if it's behaving as expected. If you want me to take a look in the meantime, though, post links to *.txt copies of your config.asp and admin_variables_info.asp files.

All seems well there; it may simply be down to a caching issue, try a forced refresh of admin_variables_info.asp.

All seems ok today, it's now showing as 1
It only took a day and a half to change after i uploaded the new file lol.
I had tried forced refresh but i'm not sure if it works the same as it did when using IE, i've recently changed to firefox.

Must've been some sort of caching issue, so, maybe at your ISP's end. Long's it's all working as it should now, though; that's the main thing.

Same subject: can duration be set to anything less than a day? If so, how.

For a cookie you set the Expiration Date, so you can set the expiration date you want. The key lies likely in the DateAdd function, that allows you to add whatever piece of time you want to another date (the current date, in the case of a cookie):

http://www.w3schools.com/vbscript/func_dateadd.asp

The forum code only allows a minimum 1 day duration. You'd need to add the duration directly in the DoCookies function, if you wanted less than that.
