Hi,

I looking for recommendations as I am looking at setting up a local community website in the UK, with very little cost if any and I want to be able to use this forum as I have been very impressed it.

The only problem is when I have tried to set up a website and install this forum I can't. Admittedly they have been free websites I have used.

Is there are suggestions as to what websites are the best ones for using this forum.

Thanks in advance.

Kentona

You can use any hosting packages that include ASP support. Any package on a Windows server will do.

What ruirib says is correct... The web server does not have to be fancy. At a minimum, it must support ASP. In fact, here is another thought for you.

If you can get a 'static' IP (one that does not change -- basically non-DHCP), you can use a computer with Windows 2000 on it! So you *could* set up the forum on a computer at your home/office. [The reason for the static IP is so your Users can count on your forum being at the same IP address. Obviously, if your IP is subject to change (through DHCP), the IP that worked yesterday may not be valid today.]

Check into this idea if it appeals to you... If you need more information, just give a shout on the forum. Most of the people here are more than willing to help!
