Hi All
I think this topic has been asked in a few different ways.
The answers I see point to the server and MS Jet problems.

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Field 'FORUM_MEMBERS.M_SIG' cannot be a zero-length string.
Path register.asp, line 606

When I look at the registion page as a new user trying to register
I see that the sig part is totally not there.
No big white square to write in.
No preview button either.
This leads me to think it is not MS Jet problem.
I updated the database before all this happened.
the update list had a problem with the members forum part then it said it corrected it and gave me a "update success" message.
Any clues would be a great help.
Thank You
Bonnie

Try the search page with 'cannot be a zero-length string'. You will find many answers.

Thank you

I think after re-reading my own post and thinking a bit and reading your help. The Sun came up and I simply enabled the sig stuff from the admin controls on the forum itself.
It is alway the simple things that get you.
I was like days before I gave up and posted and no sooner then I did I got the answer.
Thanks for all your help.
I know I will need more later. One step at a time.
Thank You very much
Bonnie

Actually that was an issue with the database field in question, but if you found a workaround that works for you, that's ok.
