Most forums I'm on will send an email message to me when someone replies to my post. Can This software be configured to do so? If so, how?

The feature is called subscriptions.
Here is a tutorial on how to set them: http://www.forumco.com/articles/tutorials/subscriptions.html

I tried this, but am not getting the emails. When a user subscribes, he/she gets the subscripition confirmation email, but the reply emails don't seem to be going out. I've checked my smtp server log and can definitely see the subscription emails, but there are none even attempted when a post is replied to regardless of the subscription level. Ideas?

Are you using your account? To the best of my knowledge, you won't be notified of posts you made.... rui can correct me if I'm wrong.

Only concern is that my users dont have time to come online and check forum everytime.

So, my system will send an email when some replies to their post. Then they can come online and check the reply.

Ay, that's right.

will you stop hijacking other peoples threads, you have already asked a question about this and been given an answer. besides, if you users can't be bothered to visit your forum then perhaps you shouldn't have one. A forum is an ONLINE discussion group not an offline one.

Okay I am a Snitz newbie but I did not find this using Snitz help.
I have find something very interesting about e-mails for replaying post.
Let’s say my host provider is codec.com
snitz forum is running on their server and they give me mail address:
for example, hermes@codec.com
incoming mail server (pop3): pop3.codec com
outgoing mail server (smtp): mx.codec.com

So now the configuration:

Select E-mail Component: CDOSYS (5/5.1/6) or ChilliSoft!ASP or CDNOTS
E-mail Mode: On
E-mail Server Address: mx.codec.com (for CDNOTS this remain blank)
Administrator E-mail Address: hermes@codec.com
Require Unique E-mail: On
E-mail Validation: On
Restrict Registration: Off
Require Logon for sending Mail: On

If all is set properly like shown in above tutorial, this was happened to me.
I, Administrator, did not get any mail when subscribed for topic, and with different user I write some new post on that topic.
Now, registration e-mail working, subscription e-mail notification working for that my alter ego user, but notification mail not working for Administrator.
Why?
Reason is pretty stupid. For some reason e-mail server on my host can not send mail to itself.
Because hermes@codec.com through outgoing (smtp) e-mail server is trying to send mail to itself; and that’s not possible.
So there is two things that I can do. Set E-mail validation feature to OFF. And change Administrator e-mail in profile.
Or. For my case, (when I open forum for public) have my alter ego User with different e-mail subscribe to topic which I want monitoring.

I hope that I didn’t post something already existing. If that is a case, Admin can delete this message.
Best Regards, Hermes
