isp--Godaddy.com They say that because they can read the database permisions are set correctly. Or else its a Frontpage problem It's my understanding that on windows servers you can't set permsions only the isp can. Thats why they give you a speacial folder to put access databases in. Is this correct?

Like rui said this is a permissions problem. You can search this and find several topics on this. The folder needs read/write permissions like rui said. |

That really depends on the hosting service. Some hosts do not allow you to change permissions yourself (few, but they are there), Others (Most) provide you some means of editing the permissions - through your favorite editor (FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.), through your favorite FTP program (Built into the editor, WS-FTP, etc.), or through some Admin. interface they have provided. It will really depend on your hosting service.
If you search around, you'll find that numerous people with GoDaddy have had the permissions issue taken care of.
Just keep in mind that with Access, Read/Write needs to be set for the IUSER account for both the folder and the file itself. They may have already provided a folder for this (most hosts do, but I've never used GoDaddy so I can't say for certain). |

Thanks for the help.
Godaddy states that because they can "access" the data base to the point where it asks for a password and user name that permisions are set correctly

That really means they don't know what they are talking about. Until there, no data is written to the DB. Inform them of the error messages. You can ask them why they happen, if all is well. |

Thanks for all your help...You guys rock!
For the future: Turns out with godaddy hosting if you can't write to your files you need to go to "my account" on thier web site and deleate file access then re-install it to re-set the permisions to the "access" database. Only took 4 calls to customer service....

Yep, this is a funny one down to the way Jet (the db engine for Access) works - in order to turn an originally single-user db to multi-user, they did a bodge and created the ldb file which is created when you undertake certain db actions - this is why you must give IUSR_ account such big privs on the db folder, if it needs to create the ldb. |
