Hi,
We are running a very old version of Snitz 2000 (it has no text formatting ability enabled and has all but the most basic of features).
Is it possible from a user perspective to determine what version is running?
Is there a complete list anywhere of bug fixes applied for each version released?
Thanks, Syme |

The title of the acronym on the "powered by" link in the bottom right hand corner of each page contains the version number; simply hold your cursor over that link and the title will display in a tooltip. It will depend on the version that is being used whether or not you'll simply vbe able to apply all the bug fixes, etc., however, if it's as old as you indicate, I'd recommend a full upgrade. Note that forum code can be turned on in your admin options to enable text formatting, etc.

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately there is no image displayed.
The forum here is used in a corporate environment (it's my understanding that a licence was purchased some time ago?). In out orginisation many of our IT functions have been outsourced and as such it is increasingly difficult to upgrade without providing a case as to why it's broken (otherwise the upgrade will cost a lot more) ... that's why I was hoping for a comprehensive bug fix list. |

you can not buy licences for Snitz, if you are not displaying either the image or the text powered by link then you are in breach of copyright and should reinstate it immediately.
your best bet is to just upgrade to the latest version (this will have the effect of reinstating the powered by logo/link) and is the advisable way to upgrade from older versions as there have been many code changes and database changes as well as bug fixes.
You can find out what version you have by looking in the admin options under "forum variable info" and look for the STRVERSION variable or look in the CONFIG table in the database, or you could try just looking in one of the asp files, the version should be in the comments at the top of each file. |

I think one of the big business cases for the upgrade will be that it's free! The forum software is and always has been completely free, so other than the time it takes to upgrade (and you should make sure you do a test upgrade first on a backup copy), there are no costs and many benefits :)
You can also argue that the old version is no longer supported (the biggest concentration of expertise is always in the current releases) fully |

Not to mention that you could make a good case for upgrading on security alone... and unless there were extensive modifications it takes much less time to upgrade than to add each individual fix. |
