It seems that I have eliminated those annoying spammers! I have installed the Anti-Spam Registration Mod, also the GateKeeper Mod and adjusted the registration to ensure newcomers have to input birthday by the pull down options. (Shaggy's Code)
To tidy up the register.asp I have commented the GateKeep Mod so that only the Anti-Spam Registration Mod only shows.

What I did:
1. inc_profile.asp look for the GateKeeper Mod about lines 283-291 and add a comment infront of every line (or you can delete it)
2. register.asp, again look for the GateKeeper Mod around lines 280-290 and either comment them all or delete.
The rest of the GateKeeper Mod works on Email, Posting etc, and the Anti-Spam Registration works only on the registration process.
Just a thought to make it tighter for the spammers!

Glad to see the "Antispam Registration Add-On", worked for you.
what version of snitz forum are you using? The line numbers given and the code in the read-me files don't match.

Pat

Hi Pat I am using version 06
Invariably the line numbers may not be exact, owing to the authors of the mods, probably writing the code from unmodded files. The quoted line numbers are usually fairly close, if you have other mods or later versions of snitz, the earlier mod code reference needs to be searched. It'll be there, just careful editting required

Hi,

I have a virgin (un-modded) version 6 inc_profile.asp file and I can't find the line 507 anywhere

I have even tried searching the text with Ctrl+F but no joy.

I just can't see the sequence commencing with if strAUAnon = "1" then - any suggestions?

I don't believe that is something in the original snitz download? OR at least in the 3.4.06 version. Are you sure no mods or anything have been uploaded?

Hi,

I stuck it in and hoped for the best and it worked, but I had put it in a sub-section too early and that resulted in the "signature checkbox by default" option being below the anti-spam code.

I have cut and paste it below this section and am happy it is working!

The code on the snitzbitz link works fine, the instructions could be a little more idiot proof though

It's been a while since I installed this, but if I remember correctly, the author of the mod had already installed the active users mod. Therefore, the code he has you searching for is part of the active users mod (which is why you couldn't find it.)

LOL I have had my share of inserting code wrong. Its really easy to make a mistake but always refreshing when you figure out what it is. Glad you got it working You could always create a new readme from what you have done and put it on snitzbitz so everyone has a newer updated one? Just thinking outloud

I implemented the code today. I got tired of cleaning up the pending members. If anyone wants the code changes for .6, I will share them. Also, I enlarged the numbers to twice the size. Glad to share.
