I setup the Snitz Forum 2000 in one site (let's say www.xyz.com/Technical) and a second Snitz Forum 2000 in the same site but in another folder (let's say www.xyz.com/ForumFamily). Well, when I make a change to one forum (logo change or a new post, for example), the change is reflected in the other forum ! They are in separate folders, but it seems they're in the same folder ! I tried change the name the .mdb file in one forum, but it did not work... can anyone help me ? Thank you. Michel

Podge: Yes, I changed the name of the .mdb file in one forum. The result was that when I tried to access the second forum, an error (file not found appeared). I think tnat when I changed the file name in forum one, the new file name was adopted in forum two (but there I did not change the snitz_forums_2000.dbf file name to the new name, of course). Michel,
If you follow the directions in the post I linked, you will get two independent forums, without the issue of changing settings in one affecting the other forum. |

Podge: One Forum will be used by my circle of professional colleagues (we work with software), and the other forum will be used for family/personal communication. So, the two forums will be used by two different groups of people, with different interests. Forum one will be in the folder www.xyz.com/Technical and Forum two will be in the folder www.xyz.com/ForumFamily.
RuiRib: I read and read the post you linked, tried a lot and I haven't achieved the solution, maybe because the article has so many confusing posts. May you or someone else in this forum clarify those for me ?
Thank you all

For one of the forums, edit config.asp.
Find the line where you now have:
strCookieURL = Left(Request.ServerVariables("Path_Info"), InstrRev(Request.ServerVariables("Path_Info"), "/"))
Replace it by:
strCookieURL = "/forum1/"
Do this for just one of the forums and then run setup.asp for that forum. After doing this the problems you described will go away, that is, you will be able to change the settings for one forum without affecting the other. |

Ruirib: Yes, it worked, but for the forum I replaced the line you advised (strCookieURL="/forum1/) I do not have Admin Option link anymore ! Is there anything more to do ? Thank you, Michel

That does not cause the link not to be shown. Run setup.asp in both forums and everything should work normally. I've done this and it works, I can assure you as much. |

Ruirib: I ran Setup.asp in both forum, but I the result was the same: I can just use one forum. I will try again, this weekend. I think I may be forgetting something. Thank you. |

Ruirib your suggestion works great but I had the same problem and when I copied over the forum to my second site I copied the database folder as well instead of starting with a new one. So it was causeing them both to look and act the same even though they were different. Could this be the problem and if michel would just start with a new database file and set up the connection string to that new database could that fix the problem??
