Hi there.
I have set up a Forum which is working really well.
To keep control of members I have turned off registration and would like to give specific people user id and password info (ie set up members myself)
Other than unlocking the Forum and doing it manually for everyone by choosing their usernames etc can i do it quickly via the admin panel - can't see the facility.
The reason i am doing it this way is to not have to refuse entry to potential members, make it a bit more exclusive and have some form of order to the usernames so that members of the group know who John Smith is as opposed to the likely Jozzer I'll get if I let him choose his own name.
thanks don |

nope, there is no facility to do this. You could try looking on www.snitzbitz.com to see if there is a MOD, but I have not heard of one myself. |

You can register someone else, as admin, from the registration page. I don't really see how a admin registration page could make it easier for you. If the issue is having the page available just for you, that can be changed. |

There's a Real Name mod floating around somewhere if that's what you're interested in. I have no idea what it actually does.
No, you can't just edit the database. Well, maybe if you were an expert you could, but talk about a ton of work! |

Tony, I donīt think it is that much work if you are used to work with Access. The only thing thatīs not straight forward is encrypting the passwords but with a SHA-module it was a piece of cake. Nevertheless Ruiribs suggestion is - as always - probably the best way to go. |
