Whenever I create a new forum it says "you must be an administrator to create a new forum" - is there any way to allow ordinary users to create forums, the same way they can create topics? Sorry if this is a question that has been answered before but I couldnt find it anywhere |

No; why would you want to do that, it would lead to chaos on your forums?

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

I second Shaggy's opinion. Doing that will create total caos on your board. If you want to incorporate user feedback in creating forums, have the users email an admin, through the forum, and then the admin can create all forums he seems fit. |

Yep, in no time you would have a phentermine forum, a porn forum, an erectile dysfunction forum.......
You would have the ultimate spammers' dream board.

Hi Mishj,
I'm afraid I'll have to agree with the other guys here - one of the recurring threads we see here is people discussing spam on forums - Snitz developers and admins work extremely hard to make sure any loopholes or new tricks are secured to prevent Snitz forums getting bulk-spammed, and even then the moderators still catch (and kill) the occasional manual spam posting. Opening out your forum like that would just overwhelm you with junk faster than you could imagine, unless you're in a controlled (intranet, not internet) environment.
If you *are* in an intranet environment it may be feasible, but would take quite a lot of coding. Instead, perhaps a wiki would be more what you're after? They allow users to generate and moderate peer content. If you describe exactly what you want to achieve (not how you want to achieve it!), people here may be able to suggest other ways to you which may help.
