I have a pending member who is approved, but the email address they registered with had a typo and the approval letter bounced.
Is there a way to update the email address for pending and aproved members thru the admin tool? I can't seem to find the section that would allow me to do this.
(if it helps, I have experince with ASP)
Thanks! |

no, it would be easier just to delete the approved one and get them to re-register with the correct address, the whole reason it has two boxes to enter your email address into isto prevent typo's |

Couldn't I just update the email address in the database? I'm a little worried that if I ask them to do this a second time, that they'll delay it until later and then eventually forget about it all together?
Our goal is to get people signed up so that we can email them now and then if they need a little encouragement to participate.

Yes, you can edit it directly in the database too.

that rather depends, if you have email validation enabled then they won't have got the link to verify the registration and therefore you won't be able to change it because there is no way to resend the validation link. if you don't have enmail validation turned on then it doesn't really matter that their email is incorrect anyway |

We do have email validation turned on, but I've found that if I manually "Activate" a user's account (in situations like this), then they can get logged in just fine without having them click on the email validation link.
Am I missing out on an important step or requirement when I do this?

Right, I understand. But this would only be used for special situations like this...

It doesn't make sense to activate the account and still have email validation on. Activating the user's account effectively bypasses email validation.
