I'm sure this must be one of the daftest questions, but I'm sure you can help. I have set up and am running a forum using Snitz and am delighted. Thank you.
Absolutely NO DOUBT that the server runs .asp.
Now I want to set up another in a parallel folder. All seemed fine, until I tried to open the setup.asp - and hey presto it opens it as html code rather than running it as asp.
I'm sure it's something incredibly simple, but can anyone point me to the right way to open it?
Thanks, Graham. |

If you are not on a Windows based host, then your host needs to enable .asp on that folder that you are trying to test it in... Do you have a link so I (and others) can look to confirm?

Hello - thanks for your very quick reply. Yes, it is on the same server. The two forum folders are right alongside one another on the server and the server is based entirely around .asp rather than .html.
It's my own fault for not making more detailed notes as I got the first one running.
Any thoughts? Thanks, Graham. |

Yes, it is a Windows-based server and I'm afraid it's an intranet so I can't provide a link - not that you'd see anything as I haven't been able to run the setup!
Thanks, Graham.

If they are at adjacent folders there should be no issues. Better talk to your host.
I was afraid you might say that! I'll keep trying - there must be something obvious happening.
All the best, Graham. |

Well, not exactly though the person who has technical responsibility is not in a position to help me resolve this. Organisational dynamics! The thing that is baffling me is that the first forum worked fine. Thanks for your help, anyway. Graham. |

No, I didn't. Should I have? I tried to repeat each step that I followed with the previous forum and as far as I can work out that one I used the direct path approach.
I've tried restarting completely, and loading direct onto the live space rather than onto a development server, so the new folders are immediately adjacent to the existing one. But I still have the same problem. Setup.asp opens as code in the IE window.
Your help really is appreciated. Graham.

Out of interest, I tried opening setup.asp in the existing forum and got the same response (in other words it opened as text rather than running the asp. So now I'm even more confused. Cheers, Graham.
