Hi there,
Anyone knows if it is possible to send an automatic e-mail about a reply to a topic that a user have posted? I mean, let's say "x" posted a question. If the question is answered "y", I would like "x" to be notified about the reply with an automatic email.
Thanks!
Arik

That functionality is already there. See this tutorial which should help you to enable subscriptions.

Thanks Podge! I still have a prob, though
I went to "Feature Configuration" at the admin panel. There I changed the "Highest level of Subscription" to "subscribe to the whole board".
Then I went back to "all forums". I scrolled down until I found the category I would like to allow subscription in (as the tutorial guides). I clicked on the pencil icon. The next screen, however, looks different than what is shown on the tutorial. I have only a "subject" line. I do not have the "subscription" and "moderation" boxes.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks a lot, all the best,

Arik

You need to make sure that your e-mail server is set up and you have e-mail mode set to "on" in your E-mail server configuration.

You want all members to be subscribed to all topics by default? You should only do this if you want to cripple your mail server and find yourself on an assortment of spam blacklists.

Ah, so you want people to automatically be subscribed to topics they start. Again, you need to take into consideration the spam issue; you may still find yourself on blacklists as you'll technically be sending out unsolicited mails. Best to keep everything opt-in rather than opt-out. If, after giving the downsides to this some thought, you still want to go this route, post a request in the mod (w/o code) forum. There may even be an existing mod that'll do what you want but I never use subscriptions so can't say for sure (and I'm just about to head into a meeting so don't have time to search for you ).
