I inherited a forum built on a heavily modded version 3.3.03. The former owner had it set so you couldn't read the posts until you registered. Now one of the members told me that anyone can get in without registering. I've checked for the require registration option but it's not there. Anyone have any idea how he did it? I'm really not experienced enough to upgrade and keep all the mods.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There is no require registration option, but you can configure the Auth Type for each forum so that only members can read the posts.

Thank you ruirib. I'll try it.
After I tried it edit:
The forums were already set to members only. I tried a couple other options just for s&g but anybody can still get in and even post.
I'm beginning to get worried.

Anybody? Members need to be signed in to post, no?

OK, let me get it clear. Previously the farthest an unregistered person could get was the home page. When you hit the link it stopped you and gave you the option to become a member or leave. You could not get into the post area. Now you can hit the link and read the posts but get stopped if you try to post.

As I wrote before, that feature is not present in a base 3.3.03 version. Maybe some mod that was added allowed for that behavior, but then I can't really tell without having a look at the forum.

Was just wondering if worren had anything like that in his Admin Options. If it is a MOD then there's a possibility that it could be controlled from the admin area.

No MarkJH. Admin options are scarce in this version. The former owner was constantly adding mods and warned me that upgrading would be almost impossible. I downloaded a copy of 3.3.03 and compared file sizes and almost every file in my forum is bigger than the original version. I know I'm going to have to take the plunge one day but if I can get these few minor problems ironed out the pressure to do it right now will be off.

I tried accessing each of the forums in your board and I wasn't able to (got a message stating that I needed to be logged in). So, it seems the baqord is working as you want it to, since non members cannot access it.

Thanks for the help. I may have fixed it by looking at things. Stop by any time.
