Hi All,

Is this possible to use SQLExpress as a database? Help much appreciated.

I'm looking to try out Snitz on my windows XP Pro with SQLExpress?
Thanks

SQL Express is SQL server, so you can use it, yes.

Thanks ruirib. That was a really quick response.

If you can please point me in the right direction. I've been looking at the intallation instructions and made the necessary changes to config.asp. The only thing I'm not so sure about is the connection string. In config.asp, for SQL Server there are two options as shown below:

'strConnString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=.\SQLExpress;database=snitz;uid=xxx;pwd=xxx;" '## MS SQL Server 6.x/7.x/2000 (OLEDB connection)
'strConnString = "driver={SQL Server};server=.\SQLExpress;uid=xxx;pwd=xxx;database=snitz" '## MS SQL Server 6.x/7.x/2000 (ODBC connection)

I've tried uncommenting one at a time and from internet explorer typed in http://localhost/snitz/setup.asp
I'm getting "The Page Not Found" screen. Any ideas what's missing and/or wrong.
Thanks

Use the first one.

The error means the file is not being found. Surely the path is not correct.

Thanks.
I've extracted everything into C:\snitz and there is a file called setup.asp.
Do I need to give the folder C:\snitz any special permissions?

Either you add a virtual directory to your website and associate it with that folder, or move the folder under c:\inetpub\wwwroot.

ruirib,

Thank you for all your help. Very much appreciated.
I created a virtual directory for IIS and pointed it to C:\snitz (where all the codes are) and it's working as expected. The forum is up and running right now. I'm going to spend a bit of time evaluating it.
Once again, thanks.
