Hello all,
I just downloaded Snitz Forums, and installed it. I haven't made any changes to the code, and I only have one forum installed in my directory. Everything seems to be working ok but one thing. I have set Require Registration to ON, and I'm having problems with Logins and Logouts.
In Main Forum Configuration:
- If I set Cookie to Website:
When I click on Logout, it says you've logged out succesfully, but you are sent to the All Forums page, instead to the one that asks you for your Username and Password (i.e. it doesn't really logs you out, since it still says "you are logged in as xxx").
- If I set Cookie to Forum:
When I click on Logout, it works ok (i.e. it goes to eh Username and Password screen).. BUT, I'm not able to Login again! Even if I close my browser and try to enter the forums again, it doesn't work. It says "loggin succesful", and then goes back to the Username and Password screen.
Could someone please help me?

| ok, firstly, everytime you change the cookie settings of the forum you will need to clear your browsers cookies befor trying to log back in and out. |

Thanks for the reply. I have cleared the cookies everytime I change the cookie settings. But I still have the same problem
Any ideas? |

is your forum in the websites root directory, or in a sub directory?
Do you have a link we can check with a temp user/password

Should I set the cookie to Website or Forum for you to test? |

it shouldn't make any difference, the website/forum option is more to do with persistance of the cookie across your website rather than whether you can log in or not, so since I have never been to your site before it should not matter.
so for example, if you wanted to have a forum login form in your website root or wanted to access the forum cookie variables from a page in the root you would need to set the cookie to website, if you didn't need to do either of those things, then you should set the cookie to forum. But either way it should make no difference as to whether you can login or out |

Oh I see, so if my forum is on a sub-sub-directory, I should set the cookies to Forum right?
With regards to the cookies, what is the right way to clear all of them?
I've been deleting the files manually from (I have Win XP):
c:\documents and settings\username
Should I also delete them from somewhere else, like:
c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp
c:\windows\temp
etc?
Or is there a way to clear these cookies instead of removing the files?

ok, I just wondered, since if it was local we you could do it with out clearing out your cookies by setting up a fake domain pointer in your hosts file.
If you have no intention of accessing the forum from outside the forum directory, then yes, set the cookie to forum |

Shouldn't it be better to set it to Website, in case I wanted to implement some communication from the root in the future?
Is there some case where Website won't work ok, or any kind of disadvantages if I set it to Website now? |
