Can someone explain what Archive topic does please.
Does it archive and remove from forum?
Archive and hide?
Help appreciated

Archive moves the threads to another database table. Archived topics cannot be replied to.

Basically it reduces the size of the main database table so queries are faster.

it archives(moves) topics and there replies to a seperate archived table, this is to reduce the load on the database by keeping the main topic and reply tables to a reasonable size
