If you have one, or the ability to create one, and want to email me the data, I can set it up for you.

Yep, I will need FTP acess data and also the data for the MySQL DB, or access to your control panel. Just email them to me using the forum function to send email.

sorry, I am not sure what FTP acess data is and why would you need to have access to my control panel? What would controling my computer have to do with setting up a database?

By control panel, I believe ruirib means your websites control panel, not your home computer.

oh, I am feeling like more of an idiot all the time lol, I have always thought I knew something about computers. I am not sure my website has a control panel. I create it on Frontpage and then just publish it to my address, where is a control panel usually?

To create a MySQL DB, your hosting account must include the ability to do it. When you signed for that account, you must have been sent the necessary details to control it. You need to check first whether your account includes that possibility.

I was never sent anything, just given the address of my site. I am on Cintek in Cranbrook, BC, Canada, this is the summary from their webpage of what I signed up for:

Once your web page is designed you need some place to put it that can be easily accessed via the Internet. Web Hosting simply means that you are doing just that. We "host" your site by renting to you space on our servers. Our hosting options are very attractive. Benefits to using Cintek for your hosting needs include FAST and RELIABLE servers, reasonably priced web space, and friendly technical support after you sign up.

If you are a business owner or would just like more exposure to your website, Cintek would like to offer you a place in our e-Plaza. The e-Plaza is designed specifically for businesses that have chosen to make Cintek servers their home on the Internet. This is perfect for local companies looking for inexpensive and immediate advertising. For an additional fee, we will design a banner promoting your site and then include it in the banner rotation on the Cintek homepage. One click of the banner instantly generates MORE traffic to your site! And on the Internet, one click is a potential customer just for you.

Pricing
• $25 per month up to 25 megabytes web space (1 MB is quite large, average sites use only 1/4 of 1 MB)
• $50 one-time setup fee if required.

This includes:
• Hosting of your site on our server

All I have is my web address and my password

I pay the $25 a month, plus $87 a year for the name, and I also paid $50 initially plus $150 to have them set up a forum for me which worked until recently, and then when it went down I found out the guy that set it up no longer worked there and at first they could not even find where is was on their server.

It is frustrating because we are a non profit organization, we have a couple of sponsors that pay for the site to be on but we don't have any extra money to anything fancy or new. All I need is just a simple blank forum for players to be able to post on. I think I would just have to try to set up a SQL database and try to post it to see if it works.

Since you use FrontPage, do you have the FrontPage extensions installed?

These are files that are intalled on your webserver to allow FrontPage to work properly. Without them, none of the FrontPage specific features will work properly. If you do not have them installed, it's possible that when you are uploading your database to your webserver, that FrontPage is not allowing the database to be read/written. According to your webhost, you need to ask them to install the extensions. Here is what they say on their FAQ page.
