well maxwebportal done a very good skinning system using CSS. How ever theres little chance of using that with their new idea's.
Their system could change redesign snitz with just editing about 10-12 gif's and knowing a little about CSS.

Looks neat. Looking at SHN (v9), it appears to use different CSS and images. There's probably more involved, but I really haven't looked too much further into it. One thing I have noticed is that it runs kinda slow... not sure if its related to the skinning.
I'd like to see some options available for my other forums someday... |

Ok. I guess my experience is due to being on a shared server as well then. Thanks for the clarification. |

this topic is pretty old, nonetheless...
One solution to this "skins" problem is just have the forum output XML instead of HTML. It's gonna be quite a chore to do, because you have to go through each file and make the changes, but once it's done, anyone can just create custom skins (and also, skins in other languages). Maybe this is something that a few volunteers can do? We just need to set a standard on which custom tags to use, like <author>, <topic>, <reply>, etc. So who's with me? |
