We have two administrators for our forum. And the system will allow the both of us to change member info.

However when we click on "Admin Options" on the main page neither of our usernames and passwords will work. They say "invalid."

How can I figure out what the "Admin Options" username and password is?

Ok I'll jump in
The main admin account would be the one created when you first setup the forum. You can try and edit your config.asp but before you do that you need to know your user ID.

Go to your profile and at the end of the url is mode=display&id=*** The *** will be your user ID number.

Edit this part of config.asp and enter you user number in.

'#################################################################################
'## If you have deleted the default Admin account, you may need to change the
'## value below. Otherwise, it should be left unchanged. (such as with a new
'## installation)
'#################################################################################

Const intAdminMemberID = 1 "Should be 1 if you haven't changed it before. Put your ID number"

Upload and you should then be able to use your existing username and password to access admin options? May have to force refresh..

Good Luck

Please anyone if i'm wrong jump in

EDIT. Backup first!

Thanks for your responses... and you'll have to excuse that my technical skills are NILL...

The person who orginally set it up is long gone. So I have no idea what the "main account" is.

As an administrator I can click on someone's username and make changes using MY username and password - I can create forums, etc. But I can NOT click on "Admin Options" and do anything there. The error states "There has been a problem! You are not allowed access."

spyderuk -- you mentioned going to my profile. When I click on my profile, the end of the url is "pop_profile.asp?mode=goEdit&id=299" I don't see anything that states mode=...

You may have gone to edit profile. when your logged on click on the link to view your profile. If you put the ID number 299 in as follows.

Edit this part of config.asp and enter you user number in.

'#################################################################################
'## If you have deleted the default Admin account, you may need to change the
'## value below. Otherwise, it should be left unchanged. (such as with a new
'## installation)
'#################################################################################

Const intAdminMemberID = 299

Do that in config.asp and then your account should be sorted and you should be able to log into the admin options and edit all other admins. That's presuming you have the logon details for the server that the forum is hosted on.

spyderuk,

That won't affect the ability to login as admin, just the ability to use some admin functions (mod setup, editing other admin's profiles).

I presume they wouldn't have logon info for the host judging by that?

ruirib Sorry. Just trying to help a bit.

ajdeer's forum has integrated authentication with her site. I'm sure her problems arise from that... and I don't think we can be of much help. Surely access to the code and DB are needed.

Sorry, I corrected my post.

As I wrote, you will need someone to look at your authentication code and DB. It won't be possible without it.
