I am new to using forums and very new to all this coding. I was able to code (cut and paste) the event calendar mod so far.
I searched and tried to find an issue directly on point but it seemed very confusing.Several issues were close but none were the exact same case as mine.
Under Email Server Configurations, I changed:
Select email component: CDOSYS (IIS 5/5.1/6) Email mode: ON Email server address: smtp.mail.yahoo.com Admin email address: xxxxx@yahoo.com Unique email: OFf email validation: ON Restrict Registration: ON Require logon for sending mail: ON
I can see and approve new applicants in the admin console but the applicant never receives the confirming email. I dont think Yahoo is receiving the forum's confirming email, nor sending it out to the new registrant.
I am not sure if there is a local email server on this host's server; that's why we use Yahoo email. I didnt set it up and I dont have direct contact with the host. I know, it sucks.
I want to be able to individually view and approve each registration applicant and have them finish registration with a confirming email.
Please let me know if I can fix this and how.
Thanks

Yahoo won't allow that from my understanding. They blocked use of that years ago. |

Ok, thank you for the fast response.
It was hard to diagnose with any error or feedback.
Is there any public email that is known to work and easy to setup ?

Yes, I have access to all the hosted files. I was able to modify the existing files to add the event calendar mod but it wasnt easy.

How could I send username and password to my ISP's smtp server?
The forums configuration doesnt have boxes to input that info?
My personal ISP is roadrunner cable. I dont know if I should use my personal home ISP for a group forum?
The forums email mailbox we use is a yahoo account. ARe there any public SMTP servers to send mail ?
Can anyone explain the different settings for Select Email Componet -- either: CDOSYS ( IIS 5/5.1/6) or SA- SMTP mail
I guess I should be on SMTP mail?
I dont know any thing about the host. Someone else set all this up. I am just making changes. I have PW's and FTP access but I dont know anything about the host or what else is on his server. The guy who set it all up, and who knows the host personally, is in the hospital and may or may not return. He is unreachable at present.
